Manchester City
League Position: 5th

Some cracks maybe starting to form in the Manchester City camp after two successive games without a win. They were albeit two away fixtures but we are sure Mark Hughes will have target six points from the two games, four points at the very least. They were held by Aston Villa just before the International break and now they’ve been held by Wigan Athletic, both by a 1-1 scoreline. The positives though for City are that they are still unbeaten this season against sides outside of the top four and they still remain firmly in the hunt for the title itself, five points behind leaders and local rivals, Manchester United, with a game in hand.
Although Man City were the favourites going into their game with Wigan Athletic at the DW stadium, they ended up having to work extremely hard just for the point. Pablo Zabeleta didn’t make the task any easier when he was dismissed early in the second half but City defended stoutly, perhaps got some luck along the way, but the point will aid them nicely in their bid to break into the top four. They are currently in sixth position and in a prominent position heading into a fixture they really should get all three points in, what would be their first in three attempts back in league action.
Injuries have been the talk of the City camp of late with Mark Hughes having to contend with several injuries to key players. Robinho is still out of action as well as Vicent Kompany & Benjani, while Craig Bellamy is still carrying a knock and could miss his second successive game. To add to their injury woes, Pablo Zabeleta will miss this game through suspension so Mark Hughes will have to make do with what he has which, to be fair, is still a lot compared to their match day opponents.
City have a perfect record at home this season, winning all three home fixtures thus far. Victories Wolves (1-0), Arsenal (4-2) & West Ham (3-1) have given City a 100% home record and they will be eager to continue their winning home trend against Fulham, a team who generally tend to struggle on their travels.
Fulham
League Position: 12th
Recent Form: WLLDW
Fulham have pushed their league campaign back in the right direction with a home win over struggler’s Hull City. A rather comfortable night at Craven Cottage for Roy Hodgeson’s team produced a 2-0 win for the home side as they notched up just their third win of the season, listing them up to 12th in the table. However, Fulham do still remain firmly in touch with the relegation zone, with just three points separating them and the bottom three, and defeat this weekend could see them fall back into the relegation trap.
That was a much needed win for Fulham after a dreadful start to the season which had previously seen them win just two games and registering just seven points. We will take into consideration that two home fixtures were against Chelsea & Arsenal but Fulham have had a string of very winnable away games, losing 2-0 at Aston Villa, maybe not as winnable as some, but Wolverhampton Wanderers & West Ham United were certainly there for the taken and to take just one point from their last three away fixtures simply isn’t good enough. It also doesn’t bode very well for their chances as they head up north to Eastlands to take on the leagues Richest club, Manchester City.
Fulham’s biggest weakness this season is in their forward department. Bobby Zamora and Andy Johnson won’t strike fear into the eyes of any of their opponents and, although Fulham have failed to score just once on their travels thus far, it’s hard to see where their regular goals will come from. Both Bobby Zamora and Diomansy Kamara got on the score sheet in Fulham’s 2-0 victory over Hull on Monday night but both were simple tap in’s, with both players lacking the ability to score fine solo efforts while their finishing on their all is pretty lacklustre at best.
The Cottagers are generally a terrible team on their travels and we can’t see them getting anywhere near beating City at the City of Manchester Stadium on Saturday. Their victory at Eastlands last season will cast a few doubts but we remain very confident of a home victory for Mark Hughes and his men.
Head-to-Head:
Manchester City W: 2 Fulham W: 4 Draws: 4
With City’s megabucks only being invested within the last season or so, Fulham do edge the recent head-to-head counter with the Cottagers winning on their previous two visits to Manchester, scoring three goals on both occasions. In fact, Fulham haven’t failed to score in Eastlands in their last five visits to Man City, certainly food for thought for both managers. City’s last home success over Fulham came three seasons ago in a 3-1 win, however, that is their sole win at home in six attempts against Fulham.
Match Verdict:- Manchester City to WIN – 1.50 Bet365
The man City revolution is expected to continue with the win they need to end their run of two consecutive draws. City have won all three of their home games thus far and they shouldn’t have too many problems dispatching Fulham. Emmanuel Adebayor is back in the fray, while Carlos Tevez is starting to find his feet already. The defence could do with being a little sharper but they should be good enough for all three points against the poor travelling Cottagers.
