Derby look a sound bet to open their campaign with a victory over a poor Brighton side. Despite mammoth debts of £40m, the Rams have managed to keep hold of star players Rasiak and Idiakez and have also recruited well defensively with the signing of Marc Edworthy and loan arrival of highly rated Middlesbrough defender Andrew Davies.
Derby beat Brighton 3-0 at Pride Park and again at the Withdean Stadium later in the season and a similar scoreline is expected on Saturday.
Brighton have signed Manchester United defender Paul McShane on loan and striker Colin Kazim-Richards in a £250,000 deal from Bury but these signings do not inspire for what will be a tough slog for the relegation favourites.
