Spain have been predictably wonderful to watch in this World Cup and will surely be adopted by the neutral fan at this stage of the competition. While Vicente Del Bosque’s team are still a little shaky in defence, nobody can argue with the way that they move the ball around, with Xavi, Andres Iniesta and David Villa all having excellent tournaments. They finally managed to achieve a breakthrough against a defensive Portugal side and will be confident of doing the same against a Paraguay team that looked very ordinary when beating Japan on penalties.

The south Americans have only won one game at this tournament (a 2-0 win over Slovakia), with Gerardo Martino’s team having drawn with Italy, New Zealand and now Japan. Although they have a couple of lively forwards in Lucas Barrios and Oscar Cardozo, it will be all hands to the pump in defence, with the Paraguayans looking to nullify the attacking threat of Villa & Co. The Spain manager must be seriously considering employing Fernando Llorente in attack instead of the ineffective Fernando Torres, although this is now a Spanish team with belief that they are going all the way.
