Mexico will be looking to avenge that last sixteen defeat in Leipzig four years ago, although El Tri might not be the team to stop Argentina in their tracks. Diego Maradona clearly wants Lionel Messi to shine in this World Cup, just as he did 24 years ago, although the fact he’s being man-marked by a couple of players every game allows Gonzalo Higuain and Carlos Tevez to have more freedom in attack. It’s also odd that the Mexican manager persists with Guillermo Franco in attack, especially when Javier Hernandez looks as though he can cause problems when he comes on as a substitute. Although Jonas Gutierrez is suspect in defence, this is a match which the south Americans should win as they look to continue their 100% record.
