Uruguay may have come into the World Cup having won just one of their last 16 matches in the tournament finals, although back-to-back victories over South Africa and Mexico enabled them to finish top of Group A and they couldn’t have asked for an easier opponent in the knockout stage. Fernando Muslera kept a clean sheet in all three group games and the Lazio stopper will be confident of managing the same in Port Elizabeth, especially with the excellent Diego Godin and Diego Lugano operating just in front of him.

In attack, Diego Forlan and Luis Suarez are forging a very good understanding and it will have helped the latter that he got off the mark against Mexico in the last match. Considering that the South Koreans conceded six goals in their last two Group B matches, it appears that the 2-0 win over Greece is becoming a distant memory and Jung Moo-Huh’s squad is one of limited ability. Providing that La Celeste can stop Ji-Sung Park seeing too much of the ball, it points to another south American team continuing to do well at this World Cup.
