We would agree that the Latics aren’t exactly world-beaters this season, although they are likely to have too much in the tank when they meet Wycombe at Boundary Park on Saturday. Dave Penney’s side have been struggling against relegation throughout the current campaign, although Tuesday’s 2-0 win over Leyton Orient has given them some breathing space near the foot of League One and they will be confident of kicking on against the Chairboys. There’s not a great deal wrong with the Oldham defence, with Reuben Hazell and Sean Gregan both accomplished players at this level, although the Lancashire side have failed to put the ball in the onion bag on several occasions.

With Pawel Abbott leading the line, the home side will fancy boosting their ‘goals for’ tally against a team that are seven points adrift of safety. It was always going to be a tough job for Gary Waddock when replacing Peter Taylor and so it’s proving with just one win managed in the past six games. On their last outing, Wycombe went 4-0 down at Stockport before clawing it back to 4-3, although this illustrates why the visitors have yielded an amazing 61 goals in 35 matches.
