Gillingham v Burton November 28, 2009 |
| Competition: | |
| FA Cup |
|
|
| Betting Preview: | |
| Although the Gills sit in the lower half of League One, their home form is one of the best in the division. With six wins and two draws from their nine matches at the Priestfield, it’s on a par with high-flying Norwich and they are unlikely to pass up the opportunity to join the big boys in the draw for the 3rd round. Mark Stimson’s side have won their last two home matches, with striker Simeon Jackson one of the hottest properties outside the top two divisions. His pace should trouble a Burton team who have lost five of their nine matches on the road.
While Albion have acclimatised well to life in League Two, like Gillingham it’s their form at home which underpins their league position. Manager Paul Peschisolido has a small squad from which to select and it’s been three consecutive away defeats for the Brewers, including a 1-0 defeat at lowly Darlington. While they arrive in Kent with nothing to lose, a cup exit looks to be on the cards. Best odds for the Gillingham win is 1.66 at Sky Bet.
